Arduino NES to MIDI Project 1.0

Here is my Arduino NES to MIDI project. I am totally jamming out here, this thing is tons of fun. I posted the code on Google code so you can download it and run it on your own Arduino. Here is a simple schematic that explains how to hook up MIDI and the NES controller to the Arduino.

Hopefully this is easy enough to follow, soon I’ll post a better schematic and new code as I implement more ideas.

Nice! If you have Windows PC but no MIDI interface, you can use s2MIDI to get the MIDI data in via the serial port/USB.

Awesome! Nitendo is forever! I found your blog by search for Dinosaurs are forever.

i am attempting a project that would connect a nintendo powerpad to my computer (mac) in which each circle on the pad would register as a different keystroke,so that i can make a simple interactive presentation in flash or director. i am a graphic designer with no background in electronics but i am willing to learn. any ideas how i can do this?
    thanks

Rachel:I see a couple of possible solutions to this.
    1) Modify the code and schematic to output to a standard PS/2 interface and output keystrokes instead of MIDI.
    2) Use the Arduino to send information back to the computer via a serial port. Read the serial data with another application that sends keystokes.

I see you don’t have a background in electronics,so you can always send me an email and I can get you pointed in the right direction (or I might be able to extend my software to encompass that functionality)

jeremy:Maybe i should change the title of the blog to Nintento AND Dinosaurs and Jeremy are forever.
